First Lunar X-Ray Observations. IMAGE: STFC (Barry J. Kellett)

D-CIXS starting taking measurements of the Moon as of the beginning of January 2005. Solar flare events in early January (~14th) triggered a high X-ray response level fromt he lunar surface and D-CIXS detected energy events.

This plot summerises these early findings and shows low-level unprocessed data. The top three facets show energy levels (per channel number) through the observation period. These events are cross-correlated with the onboard XSM in the forth panel down (plot of energy variations in solar activity). The bottom panel is a final cross-check with the GOES X-ray satelitte that monitors solar X-ray activity.
