Chilbolton Observatory An overview of Chilbolton Observatory
Chilbolton Dish

CFARR is one of the worlds most advanced meteorlogical radar experimental facilities and home to the worlds largest fully steerable metrological radar, the Chilbolton Advanced Meteorological Radar CAMRa). Live data from Chilbolton is showcased on the Chilbolton Weather Web.

In addition to our ongoing research programmes in meteorology and radio propagation, Chilbolton Observatory frequently host visiting experiments and research teams from universities and other research organisation, both from the UK and abroad.

Along with Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and Daresbury Laboratory, Chilbolton Observatory is one of the three sites of the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils' (CCLRC). The facilities at Chilbolton are run by the Radio Communications Research Unit (RCRU) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory and funded largely through the Chilbolton Facilities Consortium. The Consortium comprises representatives NERC, Ofcom and ERSRC as well as CCLRC.
